“ …an excellent examination of the oft-overlooked side of Hollywood's Golden Age.”

“Grandson Kirk Kelleykahn wanted her [Juanita Moore] legacy remembered and so he went on a journey. A Star without a Star is a testament to his success. It shows how imperative it is for younger generations to champion unsung pioneers of the past.

“The purpose of the film seems to be to highlight the resiliency, competency, and contributions of black actors in Hollywood rather than to grovel at the feet of whoever doles out Walk of Fame stars… it’s cleverly subversive in that way.”

Juanita Moore: the Oscar nominee who fought stereotypes and racism

5/5

Fantastic Kirk KelleyKhan film & tribute to his late grandmother, the great actress Juanita Moore. Juanita Moore is as sublime in this documentary about her life as she was in “Imitation of Life” the 1959 American classic that she earned an Oscar nomination. Highly touching, sad, and wonderful!
